- Investigation of non-stationary processes in different evolution stage stars. In frame of this project we are going to investigate different processes which can be considered as non-stationary on different spatial and time scales including high energy processes like jets and burst in young stars as well as acoustic and gravitational oscillation in more evolved stars. Project leader is PhD Aleksander V. Serebryanskiy.

  - Investigations of Earth’s albedo variations using lunar earthshine measurements. The project aimed to estimate variations of the Earth’s albedo that is closely related to the total energy input from the Sun and thus affects the Earth’s global warming problem. Observations will be carried out in Maidanak observatory using recently installed telescope of Taiwanese EAST project. Project leader is Prof. Shuhrat Ehgamberdiev.

  - Estimation of potentialities of Uzbekistan astronomical sites using site testing methods. The project aimed to compare atmospheric parameters of Maidanak, Samarkand, Suffa and Parkent sites for optical observations. New UBAI-DIMM instrument is used to measure atmospheric seeing at these sites. Project leader is Prof. Shuhrat Ehgamberdiev.

  - Study of gravitational lenses, formed galaxies and generalized gravitational models. Research of our group is mainly devoted to the general-relativistic electrodynamics of continuous media such as superconductor, conductor, plasma etc and its application for theoretical explanation and analysis of electromagnetic and astrophysical processes in the external gravitational fields. Experimental tests of general relativity, general relativistic electromagnetic effects and fields for pulsars and magnetized rotating and oscillating neutron stars are also in our scientific interests. The group is also studying solutions of field equations, particle motion and electromagnetic fields and waves around gravitating compact gravitating objects. Project leader is Alisher Muminov.

  - Development of methods for extraction of data for earthquake prediction and prognosis from gravitational and astrophysical measurements. The aim of the Project is to use ionospheric and magnetospheric electromagnetic data obtained from ground based stations of space navigation systems DORIS and GPS for studying of correlation between ionospheric perturbations and earthquakes. Preliminary agreement with STAR Laboratory of Stanford University to establish collaboration on very low frequency (VLF) studies of ionospheric and magnetospheric electromagnetic phenomenon is under progress. It is expected that the project will involve the training of local personal on atmospheric ionospheric physics and the collaboration will eventually result in the set-up of an ELF/VLF radio receiver, provided by Stanford University.   - Telescopes automatisation and development of the guiding system for AZT-22 on Maidanak observatory. The aim of this project is automatisation of the telescopes on Maidanak observatory, based on development of telescope control system and auto-guiding system. Project leader is Otabek Burkhonov.

  - Study of gravitational lenses and formed galaxies. The subjects of research of scientific group is devoted to studying of early and non-stationary stages of galaxies evolution. Theoretical and observant methods of modern extragalactic astronomy are used. The observant part is directed on research of gravitationally lensed quasars (GLQ), and theoretical - to the analysis of physics of collapsing and forming stages of galaxies evolution. Project leader is prof. S.N.Nuritdinov

  - EAST (Earthshine and Asteroseismology Telescope) - new robotized telescope was mounted on Maidanak Observatory within the frames of EAST project. The telescope has 3.5 inch diameter (Questar) and equipped with CCD camera. Project manager is Prof. Dean-Yi Chou from National Tsing Hua University, Hsinchu, Taiwan. From UBAI is Prof. Shuhrat Ehgamberdiev.

  - SamObs (Samarkand Educational Observatory) - is the first educational observatory in Uzbekistan, and appears to be the first in whole Central Asia as well. First light at the telescope coincided with the solar eclipse on 29th March 2006. Project manager is Prof. Shuhrat Ehgamberdiev.

  - Construction of an educational telescope in Andijan - UBAI, Andijan State University and Bobur Foundation have assembled their efforts for installation of a university class optical telescope in Andijan town. An abandoned professional telescope is being repaired and modified for further installation at Bobur park in Andijan. Project manager is Prof. Shuhrat Ehgamberdiev.
